We've been working on the recommendation engine lately, and Chris turned up an interesting observation. The most popular words in reddit titles:

Hmm. Why are some of the final letter 'e's missing? Looks like you need to check your regular expressions. (Also, "appearance" is misspelt.)

because it's taking into account the different forms of the word: "googl" could include Google, 'Googling', etc.

and "appearance" is spelled correctly :)

No it's not. They spelled it 'appearence'.
